Today’s Stoke Story

🧗🏻‍♂️ El Cap. First Try. No Falls.

The Report: At just 20 years old, Will Moss just pulled off one of the boldest sends in Yosemite history! The first-ever flash of El Cap in a single day. On 5/20/25 he climbed the Free Rider route (5.13a, 3,000 ft) in just over 22 hours, leading every pitch and never taking a single fall. A former comp kid turned trad crusher. In climbing, to “flash” a route means sending it on your very first try, no falls, with a bit of beta in your back pocket. For perspective experienced climbers usually take 2–4 days to piece this one together, while intermediate big wall climbers might need 5–7 days, some elite climbers can do it in under a day, think Alex Honnold’s legendary solo of El Cap. Even with rope and gear, Will's ability to pull this off in a single push is next-level. Bottom line, flashing El Cap in a day is absolutely insane. After two years of studying beta and ticking off Yosemite testpieces, Will made his move launching at 5 a.m. and topping out by 3 a.m. the next day. He credits his slab skills, offwidth experience, and a 6’5” wingspan for helping him stay locked in.

⛷️ Eagle County Locals Named to U.S. Ski Team

A total of 31 athletes with ties to Eagle County and Ski and Snowboard Club Vail have been nominated to the U.S. Ski & Snowboard teams following the organization’s annual spring congress. The nominations span alpine, freestyle, freeski, snowboard, Nordic, and para disciplines, with official team announcements set for September. Highlights include Lindsey Vonn’s comeback season, where she podiumed at the World Cup Finals, and Mikaela Shiffrin’s milestone 100th World Cup win despite an injury-plagued year. Local favorite River Radamus also notched a U.S. national title on his home hill in Vail. Ski and Snowboard Club Vail continues to dominate in freestyle, with Tess Johnson grabbing her first World Cup win in seven years and finishing third overall in moguls. Rising stars like Kai Owens, Elizabeth Lemley, and Abby McLarnon also secured spot! On the slopestyle and park side, Ollie Martin led the charge with a World Cup win and two bronze medals at the FIS World Championships, and he’s currently ranked 5th in the world at just 16 years old. Honestly, it’s so cool to see this kind of talent coming out of our own backyard, from Olympic vets to teenage up-and-comers, these local athletes are absolutely crushing it!

As Purgatory Resort approaches its 60th anniversary this December, the Southwest Colorado ski area is investing over $6 million in upgrades ahead of the 2025–26 season. Major improvements include expanded snowmaking on Ray’s Ridge, Blackburn’s Bash, and Legends Bypass, which will allow for earlier openings and longer seasons on the backside. A new triple chairlift and up to five new trails are set to break ground this summer, giving skiers better access to advanced terrain without having to loop back to the base. Additional upgrades include new rental gear, a Prinoth Bison snowcat, improved Wi-Fi, HD mountain cams, and updates to both the alpine slide and the Purgatory app. According to GM Dave Rathbun, these investments reflect a long-term commitment to both the mountain and the loyal guests who ride it.

Founder to the Rescue: Revel Bikes Returns to Its Roots

Revel Bikes is back and back in the hands of founder Adam Miller. After selling the brand to a private equity firm in 2021, Miller was stunned to learn just last month that the company was abruptly shutting down due to aggressive over-expansion, high overhead, and funding cuts. With 125 bidders for the brand, Miller fought to buy back Revel and has officially signed the paperwork to take the reins once again. He’s not in it for a quick flip, the new Revel will focus on smart growth, better pricing, leaner operations, and building bikes that riders actually want. Miller, who started selling bike parts from his bedroom at 11 years old, says the mission is simple. Build great bikes, support the riding community, and run a business that lasts. Revel will prioritize custom builds, top-tier customer service, and a direct-to-consumer model!
